a shrine to the gothic old internet
a (very pretty and decorated) post about the early-to-mid-2000s online obsession with girls standing in cemeteries
dark angels, sad girls drifting around cemeteries, ornate crosses, vampires, skulls - everyone wanted to be dark and soulful in their online expression.
well, i haven’t grown out of it yet - so enjoy the 2005-era shrine to the gothic side of the web that our millenial teen girl selves would have loved!
I made a website of my own because I got tired of social media and wanted the internet to be a fun creative experience again.
Today's header image is a screenshot of the very beginning of my first old-web-style post: where I spent literal days digging up obscure corners of the early internet via the WayBack Machine, curating gothic digital art from the early 2000s, designing and then writing an ornate blog post!
I like my blog posts to be visually very ~extra~ and convey a vibe that modern blogs rarely do, so you can find the full post right over here.
with love from Avalon ♡
